Office Hours: Monday 6pm-7pm, Wednesday 3pm-4pm and by arrangement.

The goal of the Music Program is to facilitate the acquisition of knowledge through creating educational opportunities for the student.  This course is an overview of both fundamental and progressive principles necessary for guitar beginning and intermediate performance.

Topics:  Basic music skills and theory, fretboard mapping, notation, melodies, chords, performance practices, exercises and rhythms.

Materials needed:  Classical or Acoustic Guitar, Notebook, Writing Utensil, Metronome, Staff Paper.

Grading:  Grades will be based on attendance, participation, and a demonstrated knowledge of the Guitar as shown through in class preparations.  Students will be evaluated through the performance and completion of assigned lessons.  Examinations and quizzes will be of performance of assigned materials.

Textbook:  Belwin's Method Book One

Testing: There will be two quizzes, a midterm and a final performance tba.

Attendance: You must attend regularly.  In class discussion is vital to understand studio procedures and operation.  To avoid a poor grade it is your responsibility to drop before the prescribed drop dates. Do not expect to be dropped by the instructor.  Limited number of absences is three.  No arriving late or leaving early without prior instructor consent.

We will proceed through the Belwin Text Book on an average of two-three pages per week.

You will be required to perform four pieces from the textbook solo. One piece must use six strings and all the rest must use a minimum of three strings.
