How to get started

-
MATERIALS- We will be using:
Puntos de partida: Online Laboratory Manual, 8th Edition
Puntos de partida: Online Workbook, 8th Edition
Puntos de partida: Hardbound textbook, 8th Edition
( DO NOT purchase E-TEXT)
The hardbound textbook is available at the MiraCosta Bookstore. DO NOT purchase the digital edition text on CENTRO. If you choose to purchase your textbook elsewhere online, PLEASE be sure that it is the 8th Edition
Access to the online workbook and lab manual can be purchased at the MiraCosta Bookstore or directly from CENTRO. DO NOT purchase the digital edition text on CENTRO, please purchase a hard bound textbook.
Keep in mind that these materials are good for 3 semesters of Spanish; you will be using these materials for Spanish 101, 102 and 201 regardless of whether you take them online or on ground, so you don't have to purchase again after this if you take all of the above mentioned classes at MiraCosta and in consecutive semesters.
-
Whether you purchase at the bookstore or online at CENTRO, you will need a COURSE CODE so that you will appear on my roster in CENTRO. Click HERE (forthcoming) to get the course code and the CENTRO registration instructions for my class.
-
If you do not have a microphone on your computer, please purchase one; you will need it to do your required conversation practice. Headset microphones or combination microphone cameras come in many brands such as Logitech or Plantronics and others that work just fine. Make sure that it is compatible with your type of computer before purchasing. These headset microphones can be purchased at Costco, Walmart, Best Buy, etc…

Once the class goes live on January 20th, logon to Blackboard and take the first day of class quiz by Tuesday, January 20th at midnight. Submitting this form will be the equivalent of attending the first day of class. Failure to do so may cause you to be dropped from the class (equivalent of “no show” at first class). You may, of course, logon earlier than the 20th.
-
Login to Blackboard to start class on Tuesday, January 20th. Once you have access to the course on Blackboard, please send ALL emails to me through Blackboard. To do this, click on Communication then Send Email and send to instructor. By week two, I will ONLY respond to emails originating from Blackboard as described here
-
If you have a question that is not of a personal nature, feel free to go to the "Ask a Question" forum on Blackboard either regarding course content or format. Remember, if you have a question... it is likely that at least ten other students have the same question.
