Welcome to the Design Resource Center

The Design Resource Center at MiraCosta is where you'll find some of the most advanced and cutting-edge tools in the fields of drafting and design. Look around and you'll see computer workstations filled with CAD and multimedia software to meet every need, rapid prototyping to create anything your imagination can produce, and large-format printing to publish even the most demanding size requirements. At the Design Resource Center, we offer each student the opportunity to reach his or her full potential in drafting and design.

Equipment

A designer is only as powerful as his or her tools, and the Design Resource Center offers some of the most advanced technology in the industry. Computers have revolutionized the design industry, taking down the boundaries of physical design and giving designers the ability to create uninhibited and imaginative work. Here are some of the tools we use:

• ZCorp 3D Plotter

Prints 3D objects for rapid prototyping of an idea
Uses powder and liquid binder to build one layer at a time
Creates finished products in a matter of hours, not weeks


• HP Large Format Plotter

Capable of printing poster-sized images
Prints up to 48" X 36" on standard or glossy paper


• 3D Scanner

Scans all areas of an object and creates a 3D image
Revolve 360 degrees around the computer image it creates
Recreates the exact colors of the object
Capable of resolutions up to 300 dots per inch
