About 150 people came to @MiraCosta enjoy the #eclipse! The clouds burned off just in time for the #Sun and #Moon to give us a great show! If you got a good photo (crowd or eclipse) while you were there, please post it here or tell us where to find it. #EclipseSolar pic.twitter.com/fiqUl1jGNn

SOLAR ECLIPSE DOUBLE-HEADER!TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE 2024ANNULAR SOLAR ECLIPSE in 2023 |
![]() |
08 April 2024
The last time the path of totality crossed the continental U.S. was in 2017. The next time won't be until 2045!
This is "game 2" of the solar eclipse double-header. Game 1 was the ANNULAR SOLAR ECLIPSE (click here) crossing the U.S. on 14 October 2023.
While none of California will see totality (see path above or this clickable map), the entire state will get a partial eclipse! (An awesome sight, particularly if you've never seen one.) In fact, nearly ALL of North and Central America sees April's event!
Your proximity to the path of annularity dictates how much of the solar disk you'll see covered: closer to the path = more of the disk covered. What will you see from Oceanside, CA? Approximately 52% coverage at maximum eclipse. Go here for more specific information and an animation.
What will you see from your location? Go here.
A solar eclipse happens when the Moon passes in front of the Sun.
