Dear MiraCosta College Community,

My name is Freddy Ramirez and I’m the new counselor for the Puente Project at MiraCosta College . I have been working at MiraCosta full time in the Counseling Department for seven years, starting as a general counselor and the coordinator of the Puente Project. Before that I worked part time for our Community Learning Center for five years. I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and to share with you some highlights about my background.

I was born in Mexico and came to the U.S. in 1985. I worked in agriculture for many years prior to my discovery of college and the options it had to offer. I attended community college where I earned my A.A. degree and then transferred to the university to pursue a business education. While I was attending CSU San Marcos, I discovered a passion for working with students and subsequently decided to pursue a Master’s Degree in Education at San Diego State University . Since earning my Master’s Degree in 1999, I’ve worked for many educational institutions including Cal State San Marcos, San Diego Mesa College , Palomar College and now MiraCosta College . I love my career and I feel lucky to have found my “dream job.”

I am a true believer in the potential embodied by all students to succeed and achieve their goals and dreams. I also believe in teaching using methods that engage students as active participants in their own education. My colleagues here are dedicated and passionate about helping our students succeed and together, I feel, we’ll be able to accomplish our educational goals.

I look forward to the opportunity of working with all members of the college community. Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or if I can be of assistance to you.

Sincerely,

Freddy N. Ramirez
